Review - The Bureau: XCOM Declassified | Xboxer360

Added: 20.08.2013 9:19 | 23 views | 0 comments

Rich of Xboxer360 writes, "If you are wondering whether The Bureau: XCOM Declassified should make its way into your games collection, allow me to ask you two questions: Did you enjoy XCOM Enemy Unknown and do you like the combat mechanics of Mass Effect? If you answered yes to both of these then Declassified should be at the top of your 'to buy' list. Striking a great balance between XCOMs style and tactics with Mass Effects squad combat, Declassified places you into the boots of the squad Commander able to take the fight to the aliens first hand and direct your two-man squad via a Mass Effect style radial command window."

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

Before XCOM, there was The Bureau. Before turn-based strategy, there was third-person shooting.
Well now, doesn't everyone look smart? The power-armoured marines of XCOM: Enemy Unknown did a good job of saving the world, we guess. But they didn't do it in style, like William Carter and his colleagues from a classy little government department called the Bureau.

Reviewer Steve Wright writes, "I sprint towards a park bench, plasma bolts flying past my head, singeing the air around me. I hungrily gulp down acidic-tasting air as I take limited cover and plan my next move. I know I've enemies all around me -- mostly out of sight -- but luckily, I've managed to flank one unknowing mark. I motion to my teammates, indicating my next target as I set myself up for a killing shot. I jump out of cover, bring my muzzle up " and shoot WAY wide. "Then, my opponent takes his turn and is spot on. The plasma melts my skin from my bones and the remnants of my body slam lifelessly to the pavement. My enemies quickly focus on dispatching the rest of my team. "That's pretty much how every game of XCOM: Enemy Unknown goes when I'm at the controls. The strategy game is one I truly appreciate, but one I'm utterly hopeless at. I'm too impatient. I rush into combat. I take useless cover and attempt shots that my soldiers have zero chance of actually makin...

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified Review | CheatCC

CCC Says: "First of all, if you have never tried an XCOM game, do yourself a favor and check one out. Last years XCOM: Enemy Unknown was an amazing addition to the already beloved franchise, and is easily worth your time. As with previous games in the series, it offered the same traits that has made XCOM a standout title among its competitors character permadeath, squad personalization, and research and development, among others. I am happy to report that, not only do these features survive in The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, they absolutely shine."

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified hands on [BuzzFocus]

Added: 14.08.2013 16:19 | 3 views | 0 comments

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified gives us one thing that Enemy Unknown was short on a wealth of truly great, memorable environments. Top-down environments are rarely as satisfying as an environment you can walk through in third or first person. The 1962 exteriors are alive, the tension is high and the combat is intense.
